eulogy

finally made it down to the belgium tavern eulogy (beer heaven)
136 chestnut street in old city philadelphia
the brew testament is massive

they have over 200 international beers
but there's always that one guy walking around with a coors light
the menu reads "tv ad beers (i.e. water) heck, we'll serve it, if you'll pay $4 for it!"

they have delirium tremens (strong pale ale 8.5%) and chimay cinq cents (belgium abbey triple) on tap
yum...
of course they have hoegaarden on tap and they have "yo big ho" which is a BIG glass of hoegaarden and the "dirty ho" which is hoegaarden and frambroise
frambroise is a lambic raspberry bubbly beverage that i also like but have never mixed it with hoegaarden

eulogy has a nice little trinity tour happy hour m-f 4:30-6:30
stella, leffe, and hoegaarden drafts $3

in other news...
barney the chimney cleaner man visited my place this morning
my fireplace is all cleaned up and ready to roar
i just may need to throw on some wood and have a "dirty ho" party

golf lakes

visiting with my parents in golf "flakes" for a few days
it got a little chilly so of course my dad has the joint closed up and the heat is blaring
i have to sneak around to crack open a window
i also knock back the thermostat when he's not looking
tomorrow we are going to myakka state park for a tram tour thru the park's back country
i need to see some big gators
i didn't get to see them in august on alligator alley because katrina scared them away

went to marshall's today with my dad...he got a new navy golf shirt and i got some oversized sunglasses
we also went to this outdoor redneck market and bought fifty cent bananas and strawberries from plant city
lots of napping, reading, eating, and television
my mom watches a lot of tv...primarily sports although today we watched oprah and a 40 minute police chase on fox news
this dude was cruisin up and down highways in a 5 series bmw near austin tx
my mom wants me to google him and see what finally happened

she's been up till 3am watching the australian open
she is excited to be up late again tonight with roger federer
last night we ate m&m's and watched wedding crashers

tonight we are watching crash
but first we have to watch duke vs north carolina
apparently there are 2 young "best friends" from episcopal academy
one is going to duke and one is going to north carolina
so they've been reviewing that story and showing games from episcopal

friday i am returning to lynnie's for the wknd...it is taco night at 46th st. and we are going out on the boat saturday
had a great time last wknd in st. pete
jimmy lawless's 40th birthday party was a blast
they rented a lodge on the beach with bartenders, chefs and dj
the dj was 21 years old and blasting some age inappropriate music so i had to recommend some tunes for the older folk and take over the microphone
lots of peeps from philly were present...some old buds of jimmy's that he hadn't seen in years
pics to come

my mom and i are cracking up at this "saying" she just blurted out
F U C K ...tell her i'm looking for her
(i think the R rated movies have initiated this behavior)

georgetown

jen and i had a great time in georgetown for new year's
we stayed 2 nights at the latham hotel on M street
upscale shops, international restaurants, and fun bars
the weather was clear and sunny
we got to walk around the entire town including the dirt trails along the canal

after visiting
mienyu and j. paul's
we brought in the new year with two delta pilots and a few young military boys at mr. smith's

back at the latham we cracked open a bottle of moet pink champagne

leaving dc was a bit shaky...
unalert, sleep deprived and saturated with champagne
i accidentally took a turn onto a one way street going the wrong way
after a few beeps and police lights i stopped the jeep
"you're going the wrong direction"
a nice plump officer got out of his car and held up traffic so i could turn the jeep around and proceed in the right direction

i pretty much felt like i did at the luke oil gas station last week

it poured the entire ride home but all in all our first road trip together was a blast
jen and i are considering our next trip...possibly austin tx in march for the sxsw music festival

island roses

my friend kim was admiring this print at the '05 polyanna gig
i've had it now for about 11 years and still love it
it has lived in three counties with me and now
hangs above my fireplace
